Contend

If the Kingdom of God is going to advance, men need to become what Jesus has called them to be – MEN!

They need to be men of influence who make a real difference in the world. Be men who live with purpose, meaning, integrity, honesty, love and faith.

Men should stand up and be counted for Christ. Not just in the Church, but also at home, in the workplace, whenever and wherever we are. Men need to start being Men and outwork their calling everywhere.

At BCC we want our men to take the gospel to the people and make the name of Jesus famous again in our city and throughout our nation.

The name Contend comes from Jude, who encouraged us to contend for the faith.

'Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints'. (Jude 1v3)

We achieve this by outworking the following basic principles:

Communication – Prayer partners
Orientation – Identity
Nutrition – Word of God
Taking the good news – Evangelism
Engage – Worship
Never give up – Stand resolute
Discipleship – Spiritual Growth

As well as great food, contend meetings involve teaching which can come from within the church's leadership team or from invited guest speakers. Previous guest speakers have included Pastor Clive Urquhart (Kingdom Faith), Pastor Paul Taylor (Kingdom Faith), Pastor Gary Rumbold (Kingdom Faith), Carl Beech (Christian Vision for Men) and Noel Fellows (author of 'Killing Time').

Contend meets six times a year in the Kings Rooms at 7.30pm on the first Friday of the following months: February, March, April, September, October & November. If you would like to come and you are not a regular member of BCC, just call the office on 0117 947 8441 for details. Details of individual meetings and speakers can also be found on the diary page.
