History
Bristol Community Church (formerly known as Bristol New Covenant Church) started as a group of Christians who were part of Bath City Church in the early 1980s. Despite living in Bristol, they would regularly travel to Bath to attend Church, until in 1984 the leadership decided to 'plant' a congregation for these people in Bristol. This church plant evolved into Bristol Community Church. In the early years we met in schools and local government offices. Every week, before we started we had to set up our PA kit, instruments and Sunday School equipment..When er finished we had to pack it all away again. We had offices on the High Street in Kingswood but quickly outgrew them. It was clear we needed a permanent home that could house us, along with our assorted belongings and provide us with an administration base to run the Church and associated ministries.
In the mid-1990s we moved into our current home: the Bourne Chapel. It comfortably seats 200+ people and we have re-furbished it with lights, PA and more. Adjacent to the Bourne Chapel are the King's Rooms. The downstairs section houses our administration centre, whilst upstairs we have a selection of different sized rooms used for children's work, a community children's club, youth work, parents and toddler groups and many other smaller meetings.
Today, Bristol Community Church is a thriving family-orientated congregation of over 200 people including a large number of children and young people. We meet every Sunday morning from 10.30am and all visitors are very welcome.
